getting started... modifying mesh for BC

Posted by Brian Tremaine at October 17. 2012

Hi All,

I'm new at meshing and I have several bodies in *.step files which I import into Salome and make multiple groups with a unified mesh. I use the end result in Elmer. That is working. What I want to do now is set boundary conditions on only a portion of a surface. For example, I have a surface 200 x 800 units and I want to define a stripe down the center that is 10x800. Rather than start over from the beginning with a new *.step file with an additional feature on that face can I create this extra surface definition in Salome?

Thanks you

Brian

Hi Brian

The attached study demonstrates how to divide a surface of a box into three surfaces. You can use such an approach to create a surface corresponding to your stripe.
