Exploding a mesh
Hi all
Being a first post, thank you a great bit of software. I really would like to explore it some more!
I have a simple Y shaped pipe I want to use as a practice shape. I would like to mesh one branch with one mesh and the other branch with a finer mesh
How would I go about this ? A sub mesh ? How would I go about selecting one part of the Y shaped mesh?
Kind regards
Stephen
Hi Stephen
It depends on what mesh you want to get. 2D or 3D, triangles (tetrahedra) or quads (hexahedra).
There are more options for triangles (tetrahedra):
To get different 2D mesh on different surfaces, create a sub-mesh on surface or use "Local Size" tab of "NETGEN 2D/3D Parameters" hypothesis.
To get different 3D mesh in different parts, either
1) make that your Y shape to consist of several solid shapes (e.g. using Partition) and then use sub-meshes or
2) make 2D mesh different on different surfaces and use the least value of "Growth Rate" parameter of "NETGEN 3D Parameters" hyp, this way there will be small tetrahedra near small triangles and their size won't increase much.
