Importing a 2D Model

Posted by Dallan Friel at October 17. 2017

Hi, I've been trying to import a 2D model that I created on Solidworks.

I saved the file as a .STEP file and tried to import it in the geometry module in salome, but when I try to import it I get this error: Import operation has finished with errors: /home/..../Filename.STEP: Null result shape.

Is it possible to import 2D shapes? If so. which format should be used?

Any help much appreciated.

Also, the geometry is of a complex nature and is designed easier on solidworks, thus the reason for modelling on solidworks opposed to salome itself.

Hi Dallan

Try using IGES format to exchange you model.

Hi St.Michael

That gives a similar error without the "null result shape".

Any ideas? Perhaps an error in the model itself?
