Salome crashs: SALOME_Sesion_Server : glxcmds.c:343: CreateContext

Hi,
I installed Salome on OpenSuse 10.3 using the Debian package.
Installation was no problem unless I had to add the libg2c.so.0 library.
Now I have the problem, that when I select "Mesh" or "Post-Pro" in GUI Salome crashs with message:
SALOME_Sesion_Server : glxcmds.c:343: CreateContext: Zusicherung >>mode != ((void*)0)<< nicht erfüllt.
Any ideas what's wrong?

Hi
you might have a problem with you graphic card driver.
Try to: launch Salome, create a new study, create a new VTK view.
If it crashes, you should install the graphic card driver, or turn it off by using the vesa module in your xorg.conf file.
Which graphic card do you use?

Hi Christophe,
you are right, Salome crashes when creating a VTK view.
I work with VNC on this server located in a server room. At the moment there is a on-board graphic card, but the admin will insert a new graphic card next week. I don't know which graphic card he chose.
Xorg.conf:
Selection "Device"
BoardName "Volari Z7"
BusID "6:5:0"
Driver "sis"
Identifier "Device[0]"
Option "EnableSiSCtrl" "on"
VendorName "XGI Technology Inc."
EndSection
What driver I have to use?

The Volari Z7 chipset is designed for servers and doesn't support 3D acceleration.
You can try to change "sis" by "vesa" in the xorg.conf but I don't know if it will work better.-

Hi Christophe,
thank you for your help.
As I already told the server will get a new graphic card. If this card supports 3D acceleration salome should run, right?
So I will ask my admin for help.

There are some problems with INTEL drivers and VTK (3D meshes are badly displayed), but it is ok with ATI or NVIDIA drivers. And I hope the new chipset won't be another SIS chipset since its 3D driver is not freely available.
