Python has no OpenSSL module in Salome 8.3 under Windows

Posted by Aliaksandr Alevanau at June 03. 2018

Hi to everybody,

I have downloaded Salome 8.3.0 and 8.2.0 binaries for Windows. Their graphic interface starts up nicely, but with a note in DOS window about the same error, which then prevents execution of any TUI script

File "I:\SALOME-8.3.0-WIN64\PRODUCTS\python-2.7.10\Lib\hashlib.py", line 138, in <module>

_hashlib.openssl_md_meth_names)

AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'openssl_md_meth_names'

As I can see, there is no OpenSSL installation in Python 2.7.10.

Has anyone noted this issue?

Is it possible to solve it somehow?

Hello Aliaksandr Alevanau

I faced the same problem and solved it in the following way:

With Windows Visual Studio 10 (2010) I compiled Python 2.7.10 64-bit, basically just opened the vcproj file in Visual Studio and ran Build.

Afterwards I simply copied the missing files to the SALOME-8.3-Win64/Products/python-2.7.10.

The following link contains information and prepared source files for python-2.7.10 64 bit for windows. It is quite extensive and you probably need only the part with compiling python-2.7.10

http://www.p-nand-q.com/python/building-python-27-with-visual_studio.html

I needed this so I could use matplotlib (+ numpy).

Hope this helps,

Cheers
