Kernel compilation error on Fedora Core 16

Posted by Chris Sigournay at November 23. 2011

Hello,

I am trying to build Salome 6.3.1 from the sources on Fedora Core 16 64 bit (3.1.0.7.fc16.x86_64). I tried the RHEL 64 bit binaries as this is the closest to Fedora but no luck, so trying to compile from scratch.

I have got as far as downloading build.sh from this forum separately, and setting the required environment variables to get build.sh started on compiling the kernel. However, I am getting the following error in the testingC/C++ section of configure_KERNEL.log when build.sh is invoked:

-----

checking wether g++ accepts -tweak... yes

checking which flag for dependency information generation... checking for 64bits integers size in F77/F90... "enabled"

C :  gcc -MM -MGcannot determine flag (C++ language)

-----

I had previously installed gcc using yum,  the package gcc.x86_64 is installed (4.6.2-1.fc16). There is nothing beyond this point in the log indicating that this process crashed, and subsequently make and make install didn't work.

Thanks in advance for your help.
