How to make meshes in partitioned compound?

Posted by Allan Yan at May 13. 2017

Hello everyone,

Currently, I am struggling to make different meshes for partitioned compound. Here I will explain it more, and I hope make myself understood.

For instance, there are two boxes, a bigger one and a smaller one. The Partition operation has been acted on these two boxes in order that they will have a shared face.

In the meshing step, I want to make coarser meshes in the center area of the boxes (in which the mesh size will be different in different boxes, since the size in one direction of two boxes will be quite different.), while making much finer meshes for the area near the edges of the boxes and the shared face.

My problem is how to realize it. Could anybody give me kind help?

Best regards,

Allan

Hi Allan

To have different meshing parameters on one of boxes, define a sub-mesh on that box. To have finer mesh on faces and edges, you can either deine Local Size on those entities or define sub-meshes on them.
