Inner Edges

Dear all, is it possible to add all inner Edges to a Mesh, instead of only the boundary ones? I would like to have the inner edges because I need to define groups on them. Best, Giorgio

Hi,

If you mean by "inner edges" the edges of the volume elements, you can use MEDCoupling and buildDescendingConnectivity(). See the example in attachment.

You can also loop on the mesh elements in python with smeshBuilder, but it may be slower.

Christophe, you've been very helpful. I wanted to actually extract Edges from a 2d mesh, so I did "buildDescendingConnectivity" only once. When it comes to writing the MED file, I wanted to keep the volume mesh, so I uncommented setMeshAtLevel(0,...). Now, my original file also had Groups of Faces and Edges defined. How can I keep them as well when I export the MED file? Best, Giorgio

Hi Giorgio,

This slightly complicates the script, but this can be done. See the script and the example in attachment.
