Parallel processing

Posted by Massimiliano Leoni at April 01. 2020

Hello! Using Salome I noticed that some operations run in serial while they seem to be good candidates for easy parallelisation. I am thinking of mesh quality indicators, for example.
Has it been tried to optimise these procedures with OpenMP or similar? I am willing to try it myself if it's not yet known it won't work. Any input?

Hello

Contents of SMESHDS_GroupOnGeom is computed in parallel.

Best regards

Hello! I haven't experienced that in practice. Do I specifically need to enable parallel processing?

Sorry, I mean not SMESHDS_GroupOnGeom and SMESHDS_GroupOnFilter.
Parallel processing is activated for certain criteria only, which are known to be hard to compute and when number of elements more than 1e+6

Best regards

Edward

hello edward,

do you have any idea if this is planned in the near future? my meshes take days to be done, and when I look at my computer I have half of the ram free and all the other threads without use....

best regards,
