Removing intersections in simple shell

Posted by Tobias Holzmann at November 11. 2019

Hi all,

I may ask you some question about removing the intersections in the following example. I tried a lot of Salome functions to get rid of the intersection but nothing was working even though, the geometry is very simple. In former versions, I remember to resolve such problems using the "Sewing" filter. However, this is not working here either.

The simple shell is stored at my server: https://holzmann-cfd.de/forums/Intersection.step

Thanks in advance,
Tobi

If I understand correctly, you want to delete the smaller surface and join the bigger two. I had success with:

  1. New Entity > Explode > Shell
  2. Delete the small surface
  3. Operations > Boolean > Fuse
It also works with FreeCAD, that is:
  1. Import STEP
  2. Delete the smaller surface
  3. Boolean union (Part workbench)
