Shaper Module: Assembly of Parts

Posted by Nick Chettle at July 01. 2019

How do I create multiple parts within the shaper module that reference one another.

So I create a new part and sketch, and then revolve to create my new part 1.

I then create a new part and the first one dissapears. I can create the sketch etc and the solid of the 2nd part but I cannot reference the first one, i.e. I cannot project edges of part 1 onto the sketch of part 2.

The only way I can get both parts to display together is to activate the partset at the top of the tree, but I cannot then edit either of the parts.

what am I missing

thanks

Nick

Hi,

You can create a sketch at the PartSet level that references the elements of Part_1 you want to use in Part_2 (using the feature Projection of the sketcher for instance).

In the screenshot, I created a sketch with the circle in grey from a hole in Part_1 (in blue). I am then able to use it in Part_2 to extrude it (in red).

Other than that, the PartSet is limited to moving a part with other ones (and other features from the Part menu).
